What comes to mind when you hear the word wellness?

Is it waking up at 5 am to your perfectly curated living space, pouring your lemon water, and setting out for your “Hot Girl” walk? Maybe it’s wearing a lot of white and globe-trotting from yoga retreat to yoga retreat, doing juice cleanses, and having a 28-step skincare routine. Or perhaps, it’s building a six-figure career that you flawlessly balance with raising kids while also maintaining a steamy sex life with your significant other.

Now, don’t get me wrong, everything I just mentioned could contribute to a sense of well-being, but where I think many of us (myself included) have gone awry is in believing that if we can just make our lives look like what we see on social media, then we will feel well. Unfortunately, wellness isn’t something that can be wrapped up in a perfect, little package the way social media would have us believe. It doesn’t have an aesthetic and it’s not a to-do list with boxes to check off.

And yet, so many of us believe that we’ll feel worthy and purposeful and peaceful and valuable and whole…if we can just get every piece of the puzzle in place. The problem? Because life is the beautiful, messy, complicated, untameable adventure that it is, the pieces will never all be in place, no matter how hard we try.

So where does that leave us in our quest to finally feel well? To feel worthy and purposeful and peaceful and valuable and whole?

It leaves us with the reality that cultivating a deep, lasting sense of wellness is an inside job. Ask anyone who has undergone a profound transformation and they’ll tell you: it starts with an internal shift.

That shift is not always comfortable, especially in the beginning. It can be scary and daunting and downright difficult to turn our attention inward. To ask ourselves questions like:

  • What do I believe about who I am, right now, in this moment?

  • What does my internal monologue sound like? Am I speaking to myself the way I would to someone I love deeply?

  • What inklings from my intuition am I neglecting or suppressing altogether?

  • What emotional weight am I carrying that I need to set down?

  • How are my beliefs manifesting in the way I care for myself physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually?

Allowing yourself the space to contemplate these questions and having the bravery to honor the answers you uncover is what I believe sets the foundation for creating a deep, blissful, unshakeable sense of wellness. There is no workout, meal plan, elixir, or gadget in the world that can answer those questions for you. The journey to wellness would be so much easier albeit waaaaaay less rewarding if they could. But the truth remains, YOU hold the keys to the kingdom on this one, my friend.

That said, you are not alone on this journey. I am here to be your companion as we venture into the unknown. Make no mistake, you are still the leader of the expedition. My role in the journey is to ask the questions that help open the channel to your truth, to be with you and provide unwavering support as that truth surfaces, and to offer tools and resources that are yours to take or leave as you step into the fullest expression of yourself. I’m here to help you flourish. That’s what each of us is on this earth to do.

Of course, on this journey, we will still talk about food and movement and all the other components of health that we know and love. However, all of those discussions will be guided by your unique sense of purpose and connection to your own internal wisdom. The bottom line? I’m here to help you sift through the bullshit and get to the good shit. Because that’s where the magic happens. It’s that scary, exhilarating place where change occurs and transformation becomes inevitable. Embracing that place is what will allow you to wake up in a year to a life that feels full of boundless possibilities inside a body that is strong, capable, flexible, and free.
